There are a million people who come in and out of New Paltz. While some of these people come here and make this there temporary home (or permanent home) they create memories here that they will remember for the rest of their lives. But the thing I keep questioning is that when people leave here what remains of us in New Paltz? We make this our home for however long and keep the memories of this place forever but what will New Paltz remember of us who leave? So I decided to construct a board or a kind of “memorial” to remember those who come and go. My idea is kind of like a large year book where the people of New Paltz could come and leave a piece of themselves here to always be remembered and for those who come to New Paltz to learn of the people who once called this place home.
For locations I thought that this would best work where New Paltz has a lot of people coming through and since it seemed to me that my project ended up more targeting the people who leave this town after some time like the students many of my places were on campus.
LOCATIONS:
-The Quad
-between or around the lecture center and humanities
-by the library
-Hasbrouck Park
-by the dining halls
-by the court house
